Parts for Crosman 160, 167, 180 and 400 Air Rifles
Given the heritage of the QB78, many, many people have asked if QB78 parts will fit the Crosman 160 and similar models including the Crosman 167, 180, 187 and 400 air rifles. Following is a detailed, part-by-part analysis which answers that question in detail. The methodology employed was to dismantle a 160 and then to re-build it repeatedly with differing QB78 parts and test each time. Part numbers and logic were used to confirm use in the other models The Crosman 160 used for this work was the one pictured below, with rear peep sight, trigger block safety and die-cast trigger assembly. D. T. Fletcher describes this as the "Type 3" and gives production as starting in 1960 and ending in 1971.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Earlier versions of the 160 may have differences from the model examined and - although some QB78 parts may fit - Archer Airguns cannot guarantee this. The same applies to the Crosman 167, 180, 187 and 400 air rifles. Also, it is known that some manufacturing tolerances could be quite large between different batches of the 160 and similar models: this can effect the suitability of the QB78 parts listed here. So this information is offered based on our testing, but please understand these limitations. Given the complexity and specialized knowledge required to work on the Crosman 400, it is strongly suggested that you do NOT work on this air rifle yourself, even though many of these parts kits will fit that rifle. As always, please do NOT order parts kits if you do not know what you are doing and how the gun works. QB78 will not fit the 160 stock as the QB78 trigger assembly is
wider. The 160 stock has a slightly longer forend, with the Front
Band cut-out fouther forward than the QB78 stock.
